Biography:
Prof J P Maree received his M.Sc. in chemistry (Univ OFS, 1975), B.Com. (UNISA, 1080), Ph.D. (Chemistry, Univ of OFS, 1988). He worked at CSIR from 1976 to 2007 and Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) in the position Rand Water Chair in Water Utilization from 2007 to 2015 when he retired. After his career at CSIR and TUT he founded the company ROC Water Technologies where the focus is on the processing of mining wastes with the aim to recover drinking water and saleable products such pigment, calcium carbonate, magnesium hydroxide and sodium sulphate. On 1 August 2018 he also received and appointed as Professor: Water and Sanitation at University of Limpopo.

Dr. Wenwan Zhong is a Professor of Chemistry at University of California, Riverside. She obtained her B.S. from University of Science and Technology of China, and Ph.D. from Iowa State University. Her research is devoted to developing innovative analytical techniques to advance our understanding on how biomolecules function and to improve disease diagnosis and treatment. Her group combines synthetic receptors, functional nucleic acids, and nanomaterials, with analytical techniques like flow cytometry, open-channel separation, optical spectroscopy, and mass spectrometry, for the discovery and analysis of biomarkers. Her group is also interested in developing analytical techniques for the study of nano-bio interface.

Dr. Liwei Hui obtained her BSc (Pharmaceutical Engineering) from Sichuan University and her PhD (Materials Science) from University of Science and Technology of China. Dr. Su is currently an associate Professor of Electromechanical Engineering in University of Macau. She received his PhD degree from the Department of Mechanical Engineering from University of Minnesota in 2006. In year 2000 and 2003, she obtained her Bachelor of Thermal Engineering from Tsinghua University, and Master of Mechanical Engineering from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, respectively. Dr. Su’s research interests include Thermal Dispersion in Porous Medium, Renewable Energy Systems, Oscillating Flows, and Indoor Air Quality. She also serves as the director of the solar energy laboratory of University of Macau and associate editors of Journal of Heat Transfer (ASME) and Case Studies in Thermal Engineering (Elsevier).

Ivana Aguiar is an Associate Professor from Universidad de la República, Facultad de Química, Uruguay, where she also obtained her PhD in Chemistry, in the development of bismuth-based semiconductor nanostructures. She has organized a variety of symposia related to sustainability, nanotechnology and education in the MRS Conferences, and in the Brazilian MRS, among others. Dr. Junying Zhang is a full professor in the school of Physics, Beihang University, China. She received B.S. degree and Master degree from University of Science and Technology Beijing, and Ph.D degree from Tsinghua University. She has conducted research as an academic visitor in the University of Oxford. Her research interests focus on first-principles calculations and structure-properties relationship of functional materials for energy conversion and storage. Dr. Zhang has co-authored more than 210 peer-reviewed journal publications with h-index of 49. She has been elected into Beijing Nova, New Century Excellent Talents in University and Beihang Blue Sky Scholar programs. She gained the Second Prize of Natural Science Award from the Ministry of Education of China, received the China Top Cited Author Award from IOP Publishing, and was admitted as a Fellow of International Association of Advanced Materials. Dr. Zhang works as Section Board Member of Nanomaterials and Editor Board Members of Journal of Ceramics and Journal of Functional Materials.
